While it may not have the prestige or the classic links layout of St. Andrews, St. Michael's Golf Club offers just as formidable a test. The challenges begin immediately on the first hole, an uphill par 4 with a fairway that slopes right to left. St. Michael's signature hole is the par-3 15th, which many consider to be the most demanding short hole in Fife. There is a large dip to the left and rear of the green, a bunker to the front right, and out-of-bounds to the left and on the railway line behind.
