Wedgefield CC is a breathtaking example of South Carolina's low country scenery and charm with amazing live Oaks, rolling fairways, and beautiful ponds.
This 18-hole championship golf course was founded in 1972 and designed by the renowned Porter Gibson and Bob Toski. The par 72 course stretches to 7057 yards from the tips, featuring 17 water hazards to present a challenging layout.
There are five sets of tee markers to accommodate all playing levels and the large and true rolling greens will give all golfers a fun challenge. Wedgefield plays to the natural contours of the land and, as a result, the front and back nines offer different experiences. The opening nine is sprawling, and as the course nears the water, the land begins to roll. Holes 11 through 14 play along a series of ponds and the natural elevations provide scenic views and move the water from the high ground towards the Black River.
The greens are where most of the layout's 35 bunkers can be found, making second shots a challenge. When players pull out the flat-stick, they will find greens that are conducive to making putts, because the breaks are subtle and the surfaces consistent.
