Pacific Harbour Golf & Country Club

Pacific Harbour is one of the Sunshine Coast’s premier golf courses located on the beautiful Bribie Island, Queensland. Playing at Pacific Harbour Golf Club should be on everyone’s bucket list, as the course is a unique, award-winning, ‘island links’ style, 18-hole champion course, that will challenge both the champion and mesmerise the social player.

Pacific Harbour chose Ross Watson, one of the Asia Pacific region’s most respected golf architects, to design the course. His previous work includes Robina Woods, Palm Meadows at the Gold Coast, Royal Sydney Golf Club and The Vines in Perth.

With 25 years’ experience, fifty courses internationally, and a reputation for crafting exciting and visually spectacular courses, Ross Watson has few peers. Sculpting a memorable environmentally sensitive island links course was Ross’s aim when designing Pacific Harbour.

Water is the central theme of the course and can be seen with many picturesque reflective lakes. Even the clubhouse appears to float over a lake and an aquatic driving range. Ross has cleverly used the wetlands, watercourses and native vegetation in the environmentally friendly and sustainable design, which he calls minimalist turf care principles.

Only environmentally acceptable fertilisers, which will not degrade the environment, including the subterranean water table, are used. Irrigation for the course is sourced from feature lakes and the underground water table. The plan also ensures that the irrigation water will run off back into the water table and the lakes.

Ross describes the style of the course as ‘risk and reward’, which works well for the championship resort and club golf.

At 6,932 yards par 72, from the championship plates, the course will present a test and challenge from scratch and professional players. It is also very enjoyable for the social golfer to have a pleasurable round of golf in a beautiful, peaceful setting.

It was the Monday of Australia Day long weekend. The pins had not been relocated in at least 2-3 days and the sides of the holes were crumbling. The greens were long and slow and bunkers not tended too. A beautiful layout spoiled by terrible maintenance management. Not worth my $80.

Course is very difficult for high handicappers. We were 20 and 27 handicaps. Off the fairway in most areas and there is no recovery shot. Especially problematic with wind carry of the ball. Also, some good shots unfairly punished. Designers overdid it with bunkering. Way too many; they are everywhere. Greens and overall condition was pretty good. Many greens had too many slopes and hills.

Always enjoy the course at Pacific Harbour - hard but a good challenge. Course is in particularly good condition considering how dry it's been.

Very good golf course. Challenging and enjoyable. Nice club house, although would be better if showers and a changing area were made available to visitors.

We played the first 3 holes rather slow (35 mins) due to 2 groups in front of us not allowing us to go through, a group of 3 who were very slow and Then the group of 4 That only had 2 sets of clubs between them whilst being taught how to play. On a Sunday, early morning and the rest of the day is busy that just isn't good course management. We called the pro shop and they said just to go to the 10th and play from there. Which of course we did and was fine but when we got back around to the 4th tee off we then had to wait for others and also had to hold up those that were behind us now. Probably best to have a course marshall out there on busy days. As foe the course it was in the top condition. 10/10. The golf was a 10/10 too. Just course management

A nice metropolitan type of course. The greens are in reasonable condition but lack some control maintenance as the fringe grass is mixing with the greens in many cases. Fairways are okay but nothing special. There is no drinks cart as you would find with many modern courses so stock up with drinks before teeing off. Prices are reasonable and player traffic was light the day we played. The club lists itself as a country club but we were confused by this description as it seemed to be a normal golf club except for a small swimming pool adjacent the sprig bar.

I hadn't played at Pacific Harbour for a long time, and I'd forgotten how good it was. Course condition was good and greens were superb. Definitely plan to play there more often.
