    Mossel Bay Golf Club

    • 17th Avenue
    • Mossel Bay, Western Cape, South Africa

Mossel Bay Golf Club was founded in 1905 with the original golf course positioned at the old aerodrome. The land on which the present course was built was made available to the Club by the Mossel Bay Municipality in 1924. The course was designed by Bob Grimsdell and was built over a period of two years.

During 1999/2000 the golf course was redesigned by Danie Obermeyer and rebuilt by Philip Basson. This happened as the result of the vision of a developer, Mr. Urs Windholz, who developed The Mossel Bay Golf Estate on the land surrounding the golf course. His vision included the rebuilding of the golf course and revamping of the club house to create a very upmarket, golfing facility. This development elevated the Mossel Bay Golf Club to another level where at the end of its first century in 2005, the membership reached 1046 and more than 45000 rounds of golf were played.

The Mossel Bay Golf Club prides itself as one of the major tourist attractions in our town and in the Garden Route. We welcome you, our guest, to enjoy all our beautiful facilities.

The reception in the golf club and proshop on checking in was not very friendly. Unusual to South Africa. Then booked me as a single ball behind 3 fourballs. In front of the 4-balls was nothing. The starter was very nice and tried to help me. He gets a10. But he could not help. As I checked in about 50’ prior my teetime, The proshop should have informed me,at that time a change in sequence would have been possible. But did not. I got the info just at Tee1 from the starter. So this was a very annoying round!!!

The course itself and the greens are in very bad conditions compared to the other courses in the region I played this week

The place is in good condition. Very generous tracks allow a fast and good game. Gorgeous the views from every track. Since we were not granted deny pricing for Affiliate members, we did not find it good

Unfortunately the course, due to the drought, was pretty dry.  Had a slow round, but thought some of the holes were great.
