The Gary Player Golf Course designed by Gary Player, is an 18 hole par 72 walking course, with a 5km running trail along the course. Built in an extinct volcanic crater this fantastic golfing paradise conforms to the stringent US GA specifications and is ranked as one of the top five golf courses in South Africa. It is also home to the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

When construction of the Sun City Resort began in 1978, the decision was taken to build a golf course that would rival the best in the world. Today, in spite of stiff competition, the Gary Player Country Club is deservedly ranked as the number one South African golf course. The Gary Player Country Club has a fully equipped health club and spa of an international standard, and offering a full range of beauty treatments and therapies.

The Sun City resort caters to every conceivable taste, and activities include game viewing safaris, hot air ballooning, riding the giant swells in the Valley of Waves and water sports. The Gary Player Country Club offers more sporting facilities such as 11 tennis courts, mountain biking and 2 jogging tracks around the Gary Player and Lost City courses.

You had to have a caddie- there were no signs, or very few. The staff very friendly and helpful.

This is my third visit to Gary Player Country Club and whilst the course was in excellent condition I do feel that the level of service has gone downhill a little. Having to walk the course one needs lots to drink and there was only one drinks station on the course (around the 6th). None on the back nine. There should have been a cart going round with a cooler box with water and soft drinks. Two out of three of the caddies who were with us were very greedy for money, particularly Peter. These two continually joked with each other in Zulu despite being able to speak good English, which we thought was very rude. Eric, the third caddie, was very polite and we would be very happy to have him again.

Great setting just prior to major championship. Very accommodating staff helping out with one of our players with a bad knee. Greens superb. Have played it several times and will keep coming back.

We chose to have no caddie as we were in a buggy (my wife has a blood disorder) and the directions on some parts of the course were very poor. We realize the course is under construction for Nedbank but signage could be better. That said, we loved the course and are very pleased to have played it. The club house and changing rooms were both excellent, as were all staff.

Easy to see why the course hosts the Nedbank - layout is great and a tough track for everyone. Scores an 8 based on poor post-winter condition (Lost City was in better condition) and slowly recovering hollowtined greens (again, Lost City in great condition)

I understand that the course had just been offline for maintenance but overall it was in poor shape and extremely dry. It also smells strongly like they are using sewerage water between the 17th and 18th holes.

I have fond memories of playing the course but i think bad timing of the year, being being this time of year playing for the fist time in about 10 years was disappointing. being August meant the course was very dry, greens ok but clearly not normal standard. Lost City in better condition and enjoyed more. Sun City still a monster!. Thanks Garth 10 handicap
