A beautiful area surrounded by mountains and forests, as well as extensive green areas and abundant water. With a visionary and innovative idea for the time, designed by Arch. Oscar E. Hütt, they agreed to create, in addition to the social club, a hotel, a residential complex and a shopping center. This is how Ciudad Cariari was born, where the Cariari Country Club is located.
The Club was inaugurated in May 1973. The total land where Cariari Country Club is located is 43 hectares, which is equivalent to 30,000 square meters. It has an 18-hole golf course, designed by the famous North American golf course developer George Fazio, 12 tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a gym, among other sports and social facilities for the enjoyment of its members, their guests and the guests of the hotels with which the Club has agreements.
The name of Cariari was conceived as a tribute to the place where Christopher Columbus landed during his fourth voyage and which signified the discovery of Costa Rica, which was called by the pre-Columbian inhabitants of the territory as "Cariay" and which currently corresponds to to Puerto Limón, to whose calm and hospitable beaches Christopher Columbus arrived on September 17, 1502. Eager to give maintenance to his damaged ships, Columbus dropped anchor and stayed for twenty-two days attracted by the beauty of the site and the warmth of the indigenous people. who treated him with singular courtesy.

Excellent staff. They were all very helpful since this was my first visit to the club. Course was in good shape. Kept me challenged but not overwhelmed.
