Athenry has been selected by Golf Ireland as well as the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) to host many major competitions over the years and it is a testament to the quality and challenge of the course that it continues to be sought as a host for major competitions by the national organisations. Athenry GC was the venue for the Men's Senior Interprovincial Championship 2018.
