Ras Al Hamra Golf Club

Mostly Clear
-°C Today, Forecast: -
Ras Al Hamra is an eighteen hole layout and is unique in Oman as the first completely floodlit Golf Course. Clever placement of multiple tees with large double greens as well as alternative locations create a par 71 layout varying from 5,400 to 6,500 yards for 18 holes which is great fun to play.

Designed by Graham Marsh Golf Design, this semi-private facility is a desert style course amongst an arid wadi and coastal hillsides, next to the Gulf of Oman. It was originally opened in 1969 as a sand course but has been redesigned as a grass course with established trees and native shrubs planted throughout so that the landscape resembles the barren and rocky feel of the surrounding Omani environment.

I enjoyed my round. The signposting could have been a little clearer. For instance, when finishing the 9th there is no indication to the 10th tee.

Very good use of a limited area with tees fairways and greens in excellent condition we came for Golf so most important element Club house and food bit basic Clear the boulders from rough they and the stones ruin your clubs and game

Although enjoyable to play it is a tight 13 hole course playing 18 holes, so not a classic design. However with buggy, water, range balls all thrown in for very competitive price, we will certainly be back to play again

Booked on line for 11:30 tee-time through golfscape but was bumped to 1:00pm because of a Travelex event going on till lunch time on Saturday 21st Jan. However Bruce was very apologetic and reserved first available teetime. Apart from that, myself and two colleagues enjoyed the course and facilities very much and will return to Ras Al Hamra again.
