Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club

-°C Today, Forecast: -
Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club is the visionary dream of His Highness Sayyid Kais bin Tarik Al Said, completed in December 2009 and opened in January 2010. Designed by Paul Thomas from internationally renowned Dave Thomas and Associates. The golf course has the privilege of being the first par 72, 18 hole championship grassed course in Sultanate of Oman. The course is built on what was an open expanse of land with undulating hills and natural wadis, specific detail went into sculpturing and landscaping the golf course into the natural contours without disturbing the natural wadis terrain and is a prominent feature players experience during play at Muscat Hills. Residential villas and apartments are strategically designed and built to fit in and align themselves with this ITC project adding value to investors and offering a life style second to none. The golf course offers distant ocean views and on beautiful clear days a back drop of the Hajar mountain range in the distance a relaxing feature whilst playing on world class Princess 77 Bermuda grassed fairways and generous and expansive Bermuda Tifdwarf greens offering a golfing experience that make you want to come back and play again.

Quality of greens and fairways very average No course guide; no GPS on cart. For a first timer it was playing blind.

Overall had a great experience but lost a few balls simply by not knowing the course e.g. the ravine in front of the 10th. Very challenging par 3's! Most over ravines. Greens were pretty slick. Will defo be back next time thru Muscat.

It seems they're on the right track with getting the course back to being in a better condition. I'd read plenty of the recent reports and was pretty concerned about what state the course would be in. As it was, in mid-March the tees had been partially resodded in some places, the fairways were fine and the greens okay.  Greens had been cored/tined a week or so ago and putted quite true.  Course design is still excellent and the homes around the course are mostly complete. Petrol carts still relatively poor but they do the job.  For the reduced OMR25 green fee, I'd say Muscat Hills is a decent option.

Greens require some work. the whole course could do with watering regularly. Tee boxes need cutting right down. Expensive for the condition of the course. Course has massive potential if more work put into to looking after the course.

I think the golf course is very interesting, and some great holes. The staff was  friendly and it worked well with a 4 hours round. However the course really needs better maintenance. Everything was a bit "tired".  Regards Nils Bjorkman

Nice course for holiday, but because of the construction area around the  course, weak maintenance of green and fairways, old carts only 5

The course is in very poor condition. It's a fantastic layout, with lots of fantastic challenging holes, but the golf is just spoilt by the general state of the course. The greens in particular, were very, very poor.
