Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club

Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club is the visionary dream of His Highness Sayyid Kais bin Tarik Al Said, completed in December 2009 and opened in January 2010. Designed by Paul Thomas from internationally renowned Dave Thomas and Associates. The golf course has the privilege of being the first par 72, 18 hole championship grassed course in Sultanate of Oman. The course is built on what was an open expanse of land with undulating hills and natural wadis, specific detail went into sculpturing and landscaping the golf course into the natural contours without disturbing the natural wadis terrain and is a prominent feature players experience during play at Muscat Hills. Residential villas and apartments are strategically designed and built to fit in and align themselves with this ITC project adding value to investors and offering a life style second to none. The golf course offers distant ocean views and on beautiful clear days a back drop of the Hajar mountain range in the distance a relaxing feature whilst playing on world class Princess 77 Bermuda grassed fairways and generous and expansive Bermuda Tifdwarf greens offering a golfing experience that make you want to come back and play again.

I came back to play after few months ob absence due to the very low quality the course was kept since the works started on hole number 4. Service as usual was very good, the golf course is not in its best condition. Hole 4 is coming better, but is still up not to the standard. The greens are improving, but are still bumpy. Sweeper was making his round by the time we were playing the back nine, too late, greens should be pristine for the first tee time. I find the green fee not yet competitive keeping in mind the quality the other two 18-hole golf courses are maintained.

We enjoyed our round of golf. However, the club restaurant drinking policy after our round (finished at 5pm) is not consistent and unfair. Others groups could drink alcohol but our group could not. We found out the other locals and groups ordered before 12pm. This rule is not welcoming for visitors and guests.

Greens had a lot of dirt from worms or something and several area with little or no grass. Some of the holes were being reconstructed. In general the grass was not green and well maintained. The price is not reasonable for the poor quality

The fairways are not manicured and not much different than the rough. There were two holes that are under repair and hardly playable. Due to the lack of manicure of the fairways, a seemingl well hit ball from the teebox can be lost. For someone new to the course, there is a lack of signage to give direction around the course. Overpriced for condition of course.

very enjoyable round of golf. Decent and challenging course, which is pretty well maintained by friendly ground staff. Clubhouse felt a little tired. Would definitely return.

Score would have been higher if the construction projects was not involved on hole 4-5. Also to many houses along the course. Afraid of hitting them. Nice course otherwise!

Course landscaping needs improvement. Grass needed to be cut. Service in club house was very lengthy with minimal snacks available at turn without extended time delay. No on course refreshments available.
