Note: the course has re-opened for visitors, with social distancing and Covid-19 safety guidelines Oubaai Golf Course is proud to be the first Ernie Els Signature course in South Africa. The course is a traditional Links layout ideally situated between the Indian Ocean and the Outeniqua Mountains.
The course itself was looking great, and playing well. The booking system was good and easy and smooth, and the halfway house food and service was great
We, however, received really bad and rude service, at almost all points on the day
1 - your access control is ridiculous. A code is scribbled by hand on a torn piece of paper, and then nobody tells us that this will be vital to every boom and access point until you finally get to leave
2 - the cost is way to high for the level of the experience and the value, compared to other courses in the area
3 - after the rude welcome, an unhelpful porter, and then having to argue our way through each gate because we have lost a torn scrap of paper. After paying so much for golf, you then ask another R40 per bucket for some horrible old warm-up balls on a very scruffy range that takes 10mins to drive to (15mins including gate access negotiations and recriminations), and another 15 back. Very disappointing
4 - we normally play Pinnacle and Fancourt on these trips, and i think sadly we will return to doing so
