Situated within minutes of Edinburgh’s busy city centre this tranquil setting has been home to Duddingston Golf Club since 1895 – a course with rich history and known for its challenging design and sweeping fairways. Set in delightful surroundings, the Braid Burn is a key feature, which meanders throughout the course, coming into play on no fewer than 14 of the 18 holes, always sitting in wait to grab that errant shot!
First laid out by Willie Park in 1895, the course today measures an impressive 6,525 yards and offers a great test of golf to all visitors. Testament to the quality of the course, over the years Duddingston Golf Club has hosted a number of national professional and amateur events. Most recently the 2008 SGU South East District Championship, the 2013 Lothian Matchplay Championship and the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Optical Express Scottish PGA tour event.
The most famous of Duddingston’s golfers is Ronnie Shade, having won the Scottish Amateur Championship five years in a row, played in the Walker Cup four times and finished leading individual in the Eisenhower Trophy in 1966.
