Mount Edgecombe Country Club (Course One)

  • Mt Edgecombe Country Estate 1
  • Mt Edgecombe, 4302 South Africa

Course ONE is a parkland layout, and this extremely attractive golf course has hosted numerous amateur as well as professional tournaments

Character – Parkland layout with many exotic trees, formerly known as Huletts CC, until converted to a residential estate in the early 90s. Begins with four shortish holes, then builds in strength right to the finish.

Signature holes – There are 4 special holes that constitute the course’s “Amen Corner” from the 13th to 16th. The 13th tough uphill Par 4 tee spot must be kept right of the large tree in the middle of the fairway. The second shot to a very narrow green. Holes 14 to 16 are where water hazards come into play. The first one is a par 5 with water guarding the green, followed by a par 3 across water, and a par 4 where a dam must be carried to reach the fairway. These 3 holes normally are the deciding holes in club championships.

Mount Edgecombe Course 1 is a nice, easy walkable course with interesting lay-layout. We well received by friendly people and had a lovely afternoon. We strongly recommend Mount Edgecombe Course. The reason for not getting 10 was the greens which we find to slow.

The course is challenging and very well maintained. The only issue I had was cold showers, but the staff did respond quickly when I complained.

Wry nice course to play, gps in the cart was very good, a lot of building work going on to improve the course at the clubhouse, couldn’t find the pro shop, but once we got going it was a great course to play.

We were not informed of a tournament starting at 12h00 (shotgun start) which meant that we were unable to finish our round due to slow play in front of us. Had we known we may have carried on straight away after the first 9 without a break.

Online booking was not available when we checked in, seems the 2 systems do not sync. Matter was however quickly resolved. We had an early tee off and were hoping to have a quick breakfast before teeing off, nowhere to grab a bite to eat unfortunately  Lovely course - greens very slow though
