The course was originally a 9-hole design by Bob Grimsdell and play officially began during 1958 when it was known as the Welgemoed Golf Club. In 1981 it was upgraded to 18 holes by course architect Bill Kerr. Major changes were later undertaken by Mark Muller and the “new” course came into play early in 1995.

The first clubhouse was in the old Welgemoed farmhouse (which was built in 1956 and has since been restored, and is now the delightful “De Oude Welgemoed” restaurant). In 1969 the clubhouse was relocated to where the Karate club is today and since 1981 has been housed in its present facility. Substantial improvements have been undertaken over the last couple of years to make the course more player-friendly.

Very interesting course with slopes and doglegs. Good course management required. I would go there any time.

We called into Bellville Golf Club for a coffee on our way back from wine tasting and were so impressed by the wonderful views and friendliness of the staff, that we decided to play 18. Despite shortage of water, although the fairways were suffering slightly the greens were superb. We loved that most holes were different and although the ‘water holes’ were difficult, we found them very panoramic. The price was good value, including hiring clubs and pull trolleys. Can throughly recommend this course and if we lived locally, would consider joining ! The Rouses, from UK

Lovely course using the natural contours of the land. Caddies were well worth the money and the halfway house did the job too.

The Fairways are dry and hard because of the Lack of water, so the Balls are rolling down and down. Greens ok.

Greens are in good state. However, compared to 2nd week oh Jan, the rest of the course is in poor to awful condition, with areas that are completely bare. I know it cannot be helped and Bellville is usually a good challenging course, but it is not worth the green feat present.
