At 6812 yards and par 82 made it one of the longest and hardest courses in Australia. In 1926 Dr. Alister Mackenzie was commissioned to design the bunkering system which has remained to this day. His re-design. Of the 15th from par 4 to a par 3 was also implemented, becoming one of the classic short holes in Australia.
"This course provides a true test for the plus marker" said Gene Sarazen - and it has been doing so ever since. Official recognition of this came in 1938 when Kingston Heath became the sixth club in Australia to receive Australian Golf Union approval to hold national open and amateur championships
Seven Men’s Australian Open Championships and one Women’s Open Championship along with numerous other national and state championships and the Australian Masters have been played at Kingston Heath.
